SUSAN SLAPIN
Fine Artist Painter paintings on paper, linen, canvas I have always been an Artist, observing the world through a sensory perception, with great wonder for the world of color! Growing up in Connecticut, viewing changing seasons~beautiful New England leaves. I remember visiting Grandfather's printing company, with multiple images rolling off long presses, full of colorful freshly textured fascinating inks; creating early visual impressions. At home: Degas' ballerinas~the prints on my wall. Poetic introspection The visual world, is not, a separate picture. Interior realms link up with this Universe; presenting a nexus of experience. Pattern, light & shadow, color, texture, line, shape, edges & layers; perception & impressions; all part & parcel of daily life. Juxtapositions and relationships, of both the human experience and the natural world, offer abundant opportunities for inquiry and creative exploration. The natural world is rich and inspiring, with both sensory and visual components; within every day and the spiritual experience. These are the primary areas addressed, in this sometimes dreamlike body of work. |
